Too Smart For Your Own Good

I have had the good fortune to work with some very smart people. Harvard MBA’s, MIT Phd’s, owners of successful companies, you name it. Not too long ago I met with an individual that I would categorize as a member of that group. He is an entrepreneur that has been on his own for several years, however, he has struggled to really “make it”. He and I met recently to discuss a number of business ideas and strategies. One of the things he wanted to talk to me about was online strategy and marketing.

The 5 BIGGEST Myths About Working From Home

I have worked from home since 1994 when AT&T shoved me there because of a mandate to reduce fuel consumption and increase employee productivity (frankly, I think it was to reduce overhead - but regardless it was a great mandate). You might think that I was elated, however I went kicking and screaming because back then all I had ever known was the cubicle world and there was “comfort” in this regiment. My old boss forced me out of the office and since then, it has been history.

The Successful Idiot.

The other day I had lunch with a very successful a person. He is for all intents and purposes, what you might think of as having lived the American dream. As a casualty of the dot com bust, he started his own business several years ago with an idea and sweat equity. He took that idea and today, his company’s annual revenues are several million dollars a year in a growing market.

Want More Referrals? Give More!

The other day I met with a potentially strong networking partner that works in an industry that parallels mine. He is a very active “go-getter” who is cordial and a professional person, and being the ever diligent networker, I asked if he would be able to grab lunch and chat about working together. He was ecstatic to do so.
